Thanks to Helius support for their prompt response to my problem. There was in fact no problem other than I didn't read the start instructions thoroughly. This is a great, very solid and compact flashlight with a super powerful beam which can be stepped down to a lower level when the high beam is required.
The unit is also capable of a strobe like flashing which would be excellent to have in an emergency.
I'm very happy with the product, it's exactly what I was looking for and is what was advertised.
